[Ascend] - Day 4
“Trust in the Lord”
Read
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Reflection
Going deeper means trusting and following the Great Shepherd. Isaiah 53 says we are all like sheep gone astray, turning to our own ways. Even in our best moments, we are prone to wander but the Lord, by His love and grace, leads us to green pastures and quiet waters where He provides peace and protection. Trusting can be difficult, especially in times of uncertainty and fear. When we cannot see what lies ahead, we start to doubt and lose faith. Even in the valley, our Great Shepherd is still with us and leads us by His goodness.
Pray
Lord, help me to trust you, especially in the areas I have not yet surrendered to you. Thank you for being the good shepherd over my life.
