Chili Cook-off Entry Rules and Procedure
Who can enter the Cook-off?
All members, friends, and regular-attenders of Whole Word Fellowship.
What do I need to bring?
Contestants must bring your own ingredients, equipment, utensils, and fuel. Space and time are limited so chili must be prepared prior to the event. Power will be supplied, but extension cords and power strips are the responsibility of the contestants. Contestants may bring crockpots, electric cooktops, aluminum trays with holder and sterno, if needed.
Chili recipes can be made with or without meat, with or without beans.
Please prepare a minimum of four quarts of competition chili. All chili must be cooked to completion prior to the event; chili should be brought “ready to eat.” Entrants are encouraged to bring their own condiments (cheese, onions, peppers, sour cream, toppings, etc). The church will provide and serve saltines crackers and bread. All contestants are responsible for the maintenance of chili’s proper temperature for serving.
Please have a list of the all ingredients used for allergy purposes on hand. If peanuts or peanut oil is used, please display a warning sign.
The church will provide spoons and cups for serving to the attendees and judges.
Where and when do I set up?
The Fellowship Hall will be open from 8:30am to 10am on the day of the event with tables available to use for setup. Table location will on a first-come basis.
How will the chili be judged?
Everyone will be given a scorecard to judge and provide feedback for each chili. 1 to 5 points will be given for the overall taste and experience of each chili. The prize will be awarded to the chili with the highest overall score.
